Ascm files are a protected file format that can only be read by using Adobe Digital Editions program.  The acsm file does not contain the text you request, rather it contains data for the Adobe Content Server authorizing access to your requested document.

On a Device:

Download and install Adobe Digital Editions program for free.

To add a acsm file to Adobe Digital Editions:

1. Open the email containing the URLLINK.acsm file or link and download it, note where it is downloaded to.

2. Start Adobe Digital Editions.

3. Click 'File', then 'add to library'.

4. Navigate to where the downloaded acsm file is, make sure the drop down is set to 'Adobe Content Server Message'.

5. Click on the acsm file and click Open.

6. If an 'Authorize our Computer' window appears, then click the box and choose 'I want to authorize my computer without an ID'.

7. Then click Authorize.

8. If it prompts you to 'Authorize Your Computer without a Vendor ID', then click Authorize.

9. You may see a message that says 'Your Computer Has Been Authorized'.

10. Click OK.

11. You should now be able to read the contents of the Digital Document you requested.
