This can happen if you've got your browser configured to download PDFs instead of viewing them in browser.
To force PDFs to open in browser, click tools -> options -> applications -> and choose Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) from the drop down menu to the right of the Portable Document Format (PDF) entry.
